Electric SUV deliveries set to commence within 10-15 days as manufacturer ramps up production following recent launch

Tata Motors has achieved a significant milestone in its electric vehicle journey with the commencement of series production for the Harrier EV at its Pune manufacturing facility. The first unit of the all-electric SUV has successfully rolled off the production line, marking the transition from launch phase to full-scale manufacturing operations.

The production milestone comes just days after the company opened bookings for the Harrier EV on July 2, 2025, through its official website. Industry sources indicate that deliveries are expected to begin within the next 10-15 days, positioning Tata Motors to meet the anticipated demand for its flagship electric SUV.

    Market Positioning and Pricing Strategy

Launched last month in the Indian market, the Harrier EV carries a price range of ₹21.49 lakh to ₹30.23 lakh (ex-showroom), strategically positioning it against competitors like the Mahindra XEV 9e, which commands a marginally higher price point in the premium electric SUV segment.

The model lineup encompasses two distinct drivetrain configurations. The Quad Wheel Drive (QWD) variant spans four trim levels – Adventure, Adventure S, Fearless+, and Empowered – while the Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) configuration is exclusively available in the range-topping Empowered variant.

    Design and Special Editions

Tata Motors has expanded the Harrier EV’s appeal with four standard color options: Nainital Nocturne, Empowered Oxide, Pristine White, and Pure Grey. The company has also introduced the Harrier EV Stealth Edition, featuring a distinctive dark matte black exterior complemented by an all-black cabin theme, catering to customers seeking a more exclusive aesthetic.

    Technology and Performance Specifications

Built on Tata’s advanced acti.ev+ architecture, the Harrier EV incorporates several segment-first features designed to enhance the premium driving experience. Notable technological highlights include a 540° Surround View system, a 14.5-inch Harman display powered by Samsung Neo QLED technology, and a premium JBL 10-speaker audio system with Dolby Atmos support.

The electric SUV offers practical versatility with a standard boot capacity of 502 liters, expandable to 999 liters when rear seats are folded. Advanced charging capabilities include Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) functionalities, addressing diverse energy requirements beyond conventional transportation needs.

    Powertrain Options and Performance

The Harrier EV features two battery pack configurations – 65 kWh and 75 kWh – catering to different range and performance requirements. The flagship Empowered 75 QWD variant employs a dual-motor setup with 156 bhp at the front axle and 235 bhp at the rear, generating a combined torque output of 504 Nm. This configuration enables the vehicle to accelerate from 0-100 kmph in just 6.3 seconds.

    Safety Excellence

The Harrier EV has established new benchmarks in safety performance, securing the highest 5-star rating from Bharat NCAP. The vehicle achieved a perfect 32/32 score in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and 45/49 in Child Occupant Protection (COP). Standard safety equipment includes seven airbags, Level 2 ADAS suite, Hill Hold Assist, Hill Descent Control, and Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

    Market Context

The production commencement aligns with Tata Motors’ broader electric vehicle strategy, as the company continues to lead India’s EV transformation. Recent market data indicates strong performance for Tata and MG electric vehicles, which have topped the electric car sales charts in FY2025.

The Harrier EV’s entry into production represents Tata Motors’ commitment to scaling electric vehicle manufacturing while maintaining quality standards. As deliveries approach, the company is positioned to capitalize on growing consumer acceptance of electric SUVs in the premium segment.
